About Scott McDougal LPC/MHSP
Hi and welcome! My name is Scott and I am an Internal Family systems therapist. I am also a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Mental Health Service Provider Designation, with a Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling and Human Development. Before becoming a licensed therapist, I spent a decade practicing meditative self-inquiry both independently and under the direct tutelage of an accomplished teacher. During that time, I discovered a truth about the nature of consciousness and the healing benefits of unveiling the true-self. The modalities that I practice are not only emperically shown to be beneficial but also help clients experience an echo of my own inner discovery. I am trained in EMDR, Brainspotting, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy and Internal Family Systems, which are all credited for helping address PTSD and symptoms such as anxiety, anger outbursts, low self-esteem, depression and matters spiritual/existential in nature. Fundamentally, I believe that our capacity to heal is innate and facilitated directly through our innermost self. Our capacity to recognize each others humanity helps to hasten this process and I am honored to be a part of it. I am a father, married for 27 years with three boys. In 2021, my oldest Austin passed away. Though that year was one of intense and eviscerating grief, I have found my way back to being with others as they uncover their true nature and through that, in some way I am healed as well.
