internal family systems therapy

Discover healing Within

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a modality of psychotherapy that insists that we have the inner capacity for self-healing.  Often we experience inner conflict or as it sometimes appears, external actions that we wish to change.  Each of us has differing thoughts, perceptions and emotions seemingly dependent upon what’s happening in our lives.  IFS addresses the inner conflict and outer actions with the theory that we are not just one one mind, but a multiplicity of mind.  Simply put, we all have “parts of self”.  Some parts of self are readily available and preferred, while others are hidden away. Often times, the parts of self preferred can be subtly detrimental to relationships and our own inner well being and parts hidden away desperately need to be liberated from where they have been concealed. When the emotional wounds of hidden parts are touched in daily life, shame, embarrassment or sadness may arise. When they are revealed and embraced through IFS they can be healed and integrated with the True Self.  If you have outbursts of anger, addictive behaviors, panic, distress or a need to control your surroundings, IFS can help free you from the bondage those dysregulated emotions bring.  It can help repair your relationships and inner conflict.  IFS brings peace to inner conflict by healing from within.

"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change."
~Carl Rogers
